The Department of Physics started functioning with the institute in 2007 at Panchayat Training Institute, Baburgram, Jasidih and subsequently shifted to the present campus in 2008. The department has been activity involved in teaching of BE students, research in various disciplines including theoretical non-linear optics, optical communication, WDM networking, soft condensed matter physics, materials science, high energy physics and plasma physics and various administrative responsibilities. Since the establishment, the department has established its footmark in reputed international journals like Carbon, Nanotechnology, Int. Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Plasma Physics, Optik, Optics Communications etc.
