How to Apply:

Interested candidates of the NRI / PIO / Self Financing Foreign Students category who wish to apply for admission to any of the academic programmes offered at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, or one of our Extension Centers may note that this Information Brochure and Application Form may be obtained from the office of Dean Admissions, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi - 835215, or from our Extension Centres in India / our International Centers. Postal requests should include: Name of candidate and complete postal address with telephone and fax number, his/her qualifications, Name of School / College where studying/last studied, and name of programme in which admission is sought. The application material will be sent by airmail in response to all such requests.

The cost of the Brochure and Application Form is 20 USD / INR 1000 if requested by post, and 10 USD / INR 500 if collected by hand. The Application Form may also be downloaded and printed from our website http://www.bitmesra.ac.in

The Application Fee to be attached with the completed form is 100 USD with the printed form provided with Brochure, or 110 USD with the form downloaded from our website. The last date for receipt of completed forms is 30th June 2007.  A recent clear colour passport size photograph should be neatly and firmly pasted at the position indicated on the application form, and two additional photographs should be attached to the form. Please attach photocopies of all relevant documents. Along with their completed forms, candidates should also attach at least two letters of recommendation (mandatory for applicants to Postgraduate Programmes and desirable for applicants to Undergraduate Programmes).

Please note that all above charges and fees are to be paid by crossed Demand Draft in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi. For procedures of electronic payment of fees after admission, please contact the Comptroller, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, on 91-651-2275808.

 In case of applications to programmes at Extension Centers, please send the original completed application to the office of Dean Admissions at Mesra and a copy to the Director of the concerned Extension Centre.

Candidates should go through the eligibility criteria, rules and regulations, details of fees, maintenance costs and other conditions before applying.

 B.E. PROGRAMMES

   1.  Provisional admission may be granted immediately on written request on first come - first served basis to candidates opting for admission in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Civil, Information Technology, Mechanical and Polymer Engineering, provided candidates have at least 60% in Class 12 and fulfill the other eligibility criteria, given on later pages. Change of branch / discipline may be granted during the first semester depending on availability of seats and marks secured by candidates in Class 12.

   2.  For candidates having 80% and above in Class 12, immediate provisional admission may be granted on request in a discipline of their preference, provided seats are available and the candidates fulfill the other eligibility criteria.

Dispatch of Letters of Confirmation granting Admission would commence from 22nd June 2007 for above candidates, and from 1st July 2007 for others. All programmes will commence in July 2007.
