admission to the 4-year (8-semester) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), 4-year
(8-semester) Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT) and
3-year (6-semester) Bachelor of Science in Food Processing Technology programmes

a)
Candidates must have appeared in AIEEE 2009 or AIPMT MAIN-2009,
conducted by the CBSE. General category / OP candidates from AIEEE
group must have AIR upto 1,50,000. SC/ST candidates who have been
declared eligible for online Central Counselling / have at least 44
marks in AIEEE may apply. All candidates who possess the AIPMT MAIN
2009 rank card may apply.
b)
Candidates must have passed in English, Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology in Class 12 / I. Sc. or equivalent
examination with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST). Marks in Class 12 to
be computed as average of best 5 subjects including English, Physics,
Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology.
c)
Candidates of PCMB group will be preferred |

BHMCT |
a)
Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have
appeared in Class 12 / Intermediate or equivalent examination (excluding
optional subjects) with minimum 50% marks in average (45% for SC/ST)
b)
Candidates must have English in Class 12 / Intermediate or
equivalent examination
c)
Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of best 5 subjects
including English

B.Sc. (FPT) |
Pass in Class 12/QE
with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate in best 5 subjects,
including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology. |
Notes:
1. The maximum age limit for admission to all undergraduate programmes is 21
years (26 years for SC/ST candidates) as on 1st Oct 2009.
2. Candidates appearing for final examinations in 2009, whose results are
not yet declared, can also apply. However, they must send copy of their Mark
Sheet showing that they have secured the minimum required marks in qualifying
examination by courier / fax (on 0651-2276007 / 2275401) before the due dates
(inside front cover).
3. Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for
equivalence (http://www.edcil.co.in),
and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate well in advance from
the evaluation division of the AIU (website
http://www.aiuweb.org).
4. In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of
equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board.
5. At the time of Counselling / Interviews, candidates will be required to
produce originals of Pass certificate & Marksheet of Class 10, Marksheet of
Class 12 showing requisite minimum marks, Admit Card and Rank Card of AIEEE 2009
or AIPMT MAIN 2009, (for candidates applying for B. Pharm) as well as Caste or
Special Category certificates in proper format signed by appropriate authority.
6.
All
notifications of counselling / interview schedules and selection lists will be
announced only on the notice boards of the Institute at Mesra and on our
website. No individual intimations will be sent to candidates.
Admission to B.E. & B.
Arch will be through AIEEE 2009 and Online Central Counseling.
No Forms need to be
filled.
However, candidates
must meet the eligibility criteria for age and marks in Class 12.

Selection Procedures:
(1)
For B. Pharm: Admission to the
4-year (8-semester) Bachelor of Pharmacy programme will be on the basis of All
India Rank obtained in either AIEEE-2009 OR AIPMT Main 2009, conducted
by CBSE, and counselling to be held on dates mentioned below at Mesra only#.
Provisional selections will be based on All India Rank in AIEEE-2009 (50% seats)
or AIPMT Main - 2009 (50% seats), for eligible candidates. (See
also above for rank in AIEEE-2009*). However, candidates must meet
the age criteria and other minimum academic requirements (see eligibility
criteria)
(2)
For BHMCT: Admission to the
4-year (8-semester) Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology
programme will be on the basis of an Entrance Test to be held on 15 July 2009
and Group Discussions and / or personal Interviews to be held on dates mentioned
below at Mesra only#. It is proposed to hold the BHMCT Entrance Test at Mesra
and our Extension Centres at Kolkata, Noida, and Patna - provided there are
sufficient numbers of candidates at each of the given Test Centres. In case the
number of candidates opting for a given Test Centre is less than a certain
minimum, the Institute reserves the right to shift candidates to the nearest
alternative Centre. The final list of Test Centres will be notified on our
website. See below for
Pattern and syllabus of entrance test for admission to BHMCT.
However, candidates must meet the age criteria and other minimum academic
requirements (see eligibility criteria)
(3)
For B.Sc. (FPT) Admission to
the 3-year (6-semester) B.Sc. in Food Processing Technology (B.Sc. FPT)
programme will be on the basis of Merit determined by marks obtained in Class
12/Equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE), computed as in eligibility criteria,
that is the aggregate percentage marks obtained in the required subjects in
Class 12/QE, and counselling for eligible candidates to be held on dates
mentioned below, at Mesra only#. The Institute will not use personal interviews
in the selection process. However, candidates must meet the age criteria and
other minimum academic requirements (see eligibility criteria)

The exact
counselling / interview schedule for B. Pharm, BHMCT and B.Sc. (FPT) will be
announced by the first week of July 2009 only on the notice Boards of the
Institute at Mesra and on our website. No individual intimations will be sent to
candidates.
How to Apply:
1. Candidates should obtain our Undergraduate Information Brochure B of
2009 and Application Form to apply.
2. The Undergraduate Information Brochure B of 2009 giving details of the
eligibility criteria, number of seats, fee structure, reservations and
containing the prescribed application form will be available across the counter
as per the dates mentioned below from all our Centres on all working days during
working hours, on payment by crossed Bank Draft of Rs. 800/- drawn in
favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi.
3. To receive the Undergraduate Information Brochure B of 2009 and
application form by post, send a crossed bank draft for Rs. 900/- in favour of
Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, along with two self-addressed
slips of paper (10 cm x 10 cm) with your name and address clearly written in
block capitals and telephone number, and a letter mentioning the course applied
for to reach any Centre positively by 18 June 2009.
Write UG-B 2009 on the envelope.
Candidates in their own interest
should send their requests for Brochure by appropriate means well in advance of
the last dates mentioned.
4.
The Brochures can be obtained in
person / by post from various Centres at the addresses given below.
5. Candidates may use the Application Form provided with the Brochure to
apply for admission to only one of the undergraduate programmes described in
this Brochure, either B. Pharm or BHMCT or B.Sc. (FPT). Use separate application
forms if you wish to apply for two or more programmes. Photocopies will not be
accepted.

Pattern and syllabus of entrance test
for admission to the BHMCT programme
The question paper shall
comprise of 125 questions to be answered in 2½ hours. Questions will be of
objective type with multiple choices out of which only one is correct. A
candidate must mark only the correct answer to score full marks. For each
correct answer a candidate will earn 4 marks. For every incorrect answer 1 mark
will be deducted. If a question has not been attempted no credit will be given
or deducted. There will be no negative marking for the questions on Serial
number 5 viz - Service and Hospitality Aptitude.

brochure must have relevant certificate(s) in proper format signed by
appropriate authority.
Based on the counselling / a
candidates performance in the selection process he / she may be provisionally
selected The provisional selection lists will be announced only on the notice
Boards of the Institute and our website a few days after the respective
counselling / interviews. No individual intimations will
be sent to candidates. Provisionally selected candidates will be required
to take admission by the date specified, failing which vacant seats may
be allotted to waitlisted candidates. The list of waitlisted candidates will
also be announced only on the notice Boards of the Institute and on our website.
